My favorite Season of the Year!

My favorite Season of the Year!

by | October 10, 2018

September

The month in which fall arrives my favorite season of the year.

The month I was born twice, by birth on the 12th and the day I embraced Islam on the 30th.

The month that prepared me for the unexpected changes in my life as my eyes took in the burst of color.

The month I appreciated life like never before. Some leaves hold on tighter than others but eventually they must all go.

The month we also celebrated life all over again as we expect the arrival of my friend’s precious baby who will inherit my name.

The month I unwillingly put to practice my endurance, patience and strength. Vulnerability, mourning and pain are feelings I had tucked away.

The month I learned letting go is not always easy or bad, it hurts but oftentimes is necessary.

The month I held on to my faith with all my might. Believing, praying and trusting my Creator have kept me from crumbling down.

September is and will always be a very special month for all these reasons and the ones that I was taught this time around…

I learned that giving up is not an option and changes are necessary in order for transformation to take place. I learned the true meaning of endless love and that grief is not a sign of weakness. It is the result of a strong relationship just like the one I had with my beloved Grand”mother.”

Spring is my other favorite season, in shaa Allah it will arrive in no time. Giving my aching heart something to look forward to and my healing soul enough time to blossom.

The last few days of one of my favorite months of the year, September, were definitely rough for me, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. You think you felt it all and seen it all, until Allah subhanawa’taala reveals a different type of test, to be more specific a different type of pain, the type of pain you wished was forever concealed.

“Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, ‘We believe’, and that they will not be put to the test?” – Quran 29:2

I honestly found that the smoothest way to change our attitude towards loss and pain is to accept the fact that everything that happens to us has been designed for our spiritual growth. It is definitely easier said than done when we are faced with the actual pain. I personally have been coping by truly embracing my loss, processing my pain like never before, crying it out, talking about it, allowing those who bring me comfort into my inner circle, mourning and grieving. It’s perfectly okay to grieve, “Grieving is not a sign of weakness, it is the result of a strong relationship.” Something we often forget is that within the sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ we are taught to grieve, cry and seek Allah’s help at all times but specially during times of sadness, sorrow, loss and hopelessness.

These trials and painful experiences are a reminder that this life is temporary, “Every soul will taste death” – Qur’an 3:185. We must continue preparing for our final destination, our akhirah, in shaa Allah. We must be the best we can be, follow the sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to the best of our ability, give as much or little as we are able to, we must be kind, compassionate, loving, caring and tolerant towards one another the way He ﷺ taught us.

“None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.” – Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Oh Allah, grant us patience, strength, peace, comfort, serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference, ameen.

“And the men and women who remember Allah frequently, Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and great reward.” – Qur’an 33:35
