World Hijab Day is an annual event founded by Nazma Khan in 2013. The event takes place on February 1st each year in 140 countries worldwide. Its stated purpose is to encourage women of all religions and backgrounds to wear and experience the hijab. Event organizers describe it as an opportunity for non-Muslim women to experience the hijab. We need to stand up to the rising tide of Feminist activists and an ex-muslim reformers such as Asra Nomani who says “as Muslim women, we actually ask you not to wear the hijab in the name of interfaith solidarity,” going on to say, “This modern-day movement spreads an ideology of political Islam.”

Moreover, as Muslims it is our responsibility to share, educate and convey the message of Islam with others.  We also need to understand that our dawah efforts must continue beyond these 3 days. We must never shy away from  these opportunities. Dawah is part of our daily lives. For us who observe the hijab we need to make sure to carry ourselves appropriately and every single one of us needs to be mind fold of our character and behavior at all times. What is dawah?  Da’wah is an Arabic word which means to invite, call or summon someone. This term is often used to describe when we, Muslims share our faith with others, in order to teach them more about Islam.
